with freezing, that i would say you got to just expect that it could, at least be slick. you know, you always want to go into a situation like this, better safer than sorry. you snow but you can see within the last three hour loop of storm scan, how the rain-snow line has really lifted to the north here. so, for the most part, a loft just already seen it turn over to just straight up rain, the problem is, if the grounds is still cold enough as it very well may be for the next few hours, you may still have a freezing rain situation on your hands and possibly, even little bit of sleet mixing in. radar, it is a good guide, but not always exactly what you're finding out there so here's a look at the winter weather alerts. winner storm warnings until at least the early afternoon and all of the hot pink shaded count ills, so basically the northern portion of our area, and then, winter weather advisories notice philadelphia county has now since been taken out of it, that one was allowed to expire at 5:00 a.m. so with time, we will see all of the advisories and warnings just gradually expire, from south to north as milder air takes over. and look at the spread. you have got 20's, 30's, 40's,

so, i would say, you know, icing isn't as much of a concern down in atlantic city but ponding certainly is. so, it is just casino of variable. depending where your travels take you here today either fine some icing issues or some snow to have to plow through or just a loft ponding on the roads. but, it is going to be tricky morning drive, no matter what you find, and for the latest on what we're actually finding out there right now, we send it out to carol erickson in the mobile weather lab hi, carol. >> well, you know, i found really bad road jigs by accident. this is berks county. olds philadelphia pike, i can't even imagine what it muse have been like travel thon to get to philadelphia. but you can see the road has not been plowed. this, i think is probably pretty representative of what you are going to be finding specially north of philadelphia. >> as we slow down thon road

right now, looking at the snow we haven't seen any plows, haven't seen anybody coming by through here, and this is just the look of it. now, again, temperature in the mobile weather lab of 32 degrees, so any can be icy getting little bit of precipitation out here, as well right now temperatures struggling, see almost where the air is trying to come n you've got some fog coming in, in some locations you will be finding fog. not seeing that here. one. issues is in areas to the north, where you have this snow pack, it is very hard for the warmer air from the top down to make it all the way down to the grounds. and you get what's called colds air damaging. and that's why you can still continue to find some very icy spots out on the roads. so the latest observations still reading still calling out it airport freezing rain there with temperature 33 degrees again the grounds temperature can be come live

still slushy spots the farther north you go so take some of the turns, a little slower. and now looking at route 42 freeway, in new jersey, it is moving volume picking up little bit wet roads for the most part, but again watch out for speed restrictions on all of the area bridges so slow inbound and out bound 25-mile per hour restrictions for the brennan betsy ross. thirty-five on the walt whitman, fire route 70 between brace road i-295 alternate route, crescent road or church road. and then a second transformer fire new jersey, mounds laurel between saint david drive, alternate route 373 or union mill road. and still an accident up on the pennsylvania turnpike, right lane, right around the quakertown interchange. mass transit looks good. no delays so far at the airport. we send it back over to erika. >> thanks so much. we are getting more school delays and close this is morning, we have them for you at the bottom of the screen.

the morning commute could be bit dangerous. jan carabeo joins just exton checking on driving conditions there. still raining january? >> raining here in exton chester county this morning doesn't mean the roads are in good condition. slushy mess this morning making our way out to the live location that we're at right now. the highways, look pretty clear, a lofter ponding side street, very slushy, seen fair number every penndot crews out here, salt g the rolled, that's the good news they're prepared for this storm they actually started preparing late last week, when they put down the brine and some salt ahead of that, friday, snow squawl so, they are work that in, that's good news, they're prepared. they've got more than 300 trucks and plowed out on the roads as needed of course. depends where you are those farther north, northern suburbs, will be plowing like that private plower manlily

delaware's public health division monitoring its first measles patients in three years. new castle county woman in her 20's, and now we're told she's a college student who worded an amtrak train in new york. the woman came back, with the infection, from traveling abroad. state health officials say the woman was not vaccinated against measles. >> if you're not vaccinated, near somebody who is contagious, you have 09% chance every becoming infected. >> now, in pennsylvania the centers for disease control says the number of kindergarten age children who fail to get the measles vaccine last year, was nearly 15%, second highest rate among the 50 states. >> right now 5:39. former starve children's show arrested on murder charges. the unusual weapon police say he used to kill his roommate. the wilds ends to the superbowl isn't the only thing

bobbi kristina brown reportedly remains on ventilator inside a georgia hospital. the 21 year old is the daughter of the late whitney houston, who died on the eve of the grammy awards nearly three years ago under early similar conditions. police search brown's townhouse that she shares with her husband. they found no signs after struggle or drugs. meanwhile, bobbi kristina's father bobby brown released a statement saying please allow for my family to deal with this matter and give my daughter the love and support she needs at this time. police in california arrest a former power ranger accused every killing his roommate with a sword. thirty-six year old ricardo med dina now behind bars facing murder charges. according to police medina fatally stabbed the victim, joshua with a sword after he tried to force his way into medina's bedroom. investigators say they were argue before the stabbing. you may recall that med dina played the red ranger on power rangers wilds force.

>> traffic and weather together together on 39's in just a bit first slow moving winter storm system part of the same system that has already blanketed parts of the planes and the midwest. near white out conditions made driving dangerous in des moines iowa. and the chicago area was burried under at least a foot of snow travelers stranded at both chicago airports after more than 1,000 flights had to be grounded. that will storm system is pushing through our area, and has its eye on new england where residents are still digging out from last week's blizzard. we've got a lot of rain right now. let's see what the weather watch remembers seeing. >> actually, really is just a true cross country storm system. one of our viewers in new mexico she watches us streaming, ivy said that her parents have the snow in michigan, she had the storm come through in her location, in the last couple every days, so, you know it, really has made its way across the us. now it is here. as we check in with the eyewitness weather watcher network, temperature readings are flirting with freezing.

and we do have one that came in, and i just lover the description from john jenkins he still has some light rain in perkasie. take a look at his comment. just love this. is there anything more descriptive? total slop. that's what he is finding out there and i thick you can visualize what that looks like. some of the comments anywhere from 5 inches to under an inch. so a very stark contrast depending where you are. to storm scan three see in the last few hours how the rain snow line has gun to lift off here. a lull off to the southwest but also more moisture sort of reforming it sever on the back edge, may not be completely out of the woods here, until later into the afternoon. >> but generally stuck with variety pack. north, mix of snow, up to the lehigh valley and first south you are, it is primarily a rain event. so do you have watch out for ponding, for minor flooding out of this, too. as we look ahead to tonight specifically take a look.

sixteen, is where we bottom out. so there is no question that if there is any left over moisture, it is going to re-freeze later tonight. so tomorrow morning i think we will be talking an awful lot about black ice. but for now just got a mixed bag out there. right, justin? >> yes, that's right katie. seeing everything low visibility, some slush, some rain and you are mentioning another refreeze tonight. that's certainly not good news for travel, overnight into tomorrow morning, as well, but this morning there is, this is 422 westbound at route 29. we have car fire, and that's slowing things down little bit, traffic trying to go around, that see not much traffic westbound but eastbound, starting to stack up little bit. talking about that visibility, being low, this is the ben franklin bridge, inbound into philadelphia. so, again, reduced visible it, will also slow things down on the area roadways. we do have speed restrictions on the bridges 25 miles per hour on the ben franklin, 35 at the walt whitman burlington bristol bridge scheduled to open at 5:40, still waiting on. that will just keep that that

problems on area roadways, this is 422 westbound at route 29. where we have a vehicle fire, so keep that in mind, good news is trucks light going westbound. different story headed east on 422. looking at the benjamin franklin bridge into new jersey looking okay. again, speed restrictions on all area bridges. the burlington bristol is open right now. and we are expecting the talcony bridge to open in about an hour. restrictions down to about 25 miles per hour. stay with us, don't wait for awesome... totino's pizza rolls... ...gets you there in just 60 seconds. go bold with flavors that kick. morning, everyone, weaver our eye on storm system, and it is bringing wintery mix to our area. just in time to make the morning commute rather tricky out there. several schools by the way have either closed or have a delayed opening. you can get all of that information at the bottom of your screen. so far looks like, philly schools are open on time. sore bye that, gang. hope you got your homework done. >> no kidding. storm scan3 shows the snow switched over to rain in most areas, but when will all of the wet weather move out?

>> the groundhog? >> phil? >> what's he going to say today. >> katie, were you saying last week hopefully he won't see his shadow because of the system moving through? >> that's what i am banking on, think about it, if phil fill doesn't see his shadow it means early spring. so let's take the storm as a trade off. am i right? anybody else? >> that will work, that will work. >> so i'm not alone there. you know we dot to take the issues where they come along with the weather definitely one out there this morning as we take this live look out on "skycam 3", you should be able to see the top of the skyscrapers, very difficult with low-lying cloud cover. we can throw the current conditions at the airport over top, modest breeze right now that will change, and nice high humidity as makes sense since you have a lot of moisture to work w temperatures still somewhat marginal with freeze being soaker we we want you to exercise caution, slow it down, there is at least back edge to that moisture, here, noticeable on storm scan, but it continues to fill in with more and more moisture. so we may end up with most of the morning drive here stuck with the precipitation. meanwhile, just in, winds advisories, this is new have
